Rawalpindi asks more of a new driver

It is honest to say this plainly. The road layout here is older and less regular than the sector grid across the boundary, junctions are busier, and you share the road with far more motorcycles, rickshaws and loading traffic. Gaps close faster and fewer drivers signal what they are about to do.

A driver trained only on quiet, wide sector roads is not ready for it. That is the single most common reason a new licence holder from this side of the city still feels unsafe after passing.

Where we start, and where we finish

Lessons begin in the calmer internal roads of Media Town, CBR Town and the neighbouring schemes, where controls and observation can be built without pressure.

They finish somewhere genuinely difficult, on purpose. The traffic you will drive in every day is the standard you should be trained against, and it is also the standard the practical test is set at. Ending the course on easy roads would flatter the instructor and fail the student.

Your licence is a Punjab licence, not an ICT one

This is the practical difference between learning here and learning in an Islamabad sector. A Rawalpindi address on your CNIC means applying through the Rawalpindi licensing authority for a Punjab driving licence — a different office and a different queue from the Islamabad Traffic Police process.

The practical standard is the same, so the training does not change. What changes is where you file, and that is worth knowing before you take a day off to go to the wrong office. We confirm which authority applies to you before the course starts.

Female instructors

Female learners are taught by female instructors where they prefer it. This is asked at booking and arranged in advance rather than left to whoever is free on the day.
